Dr. Jimmy Latimer became Pastor of Redeemer after 40 years as Senior Pastor of Central Church. Much of his life has been dedicated to service and leadership in the church and community. At various times during his pastorate, he has served as the President of Crichton College; a board member of Calvary Rescue Mission; Founder & Chairman of the Board of Kirby Pines Retirement Community; board member of MIFA; he was also instrumental in the founding of the Church Health Center in Memphis and in the reorganization of Evangelical Christian School in 1974. He was formerly the FBI Chaplain for West Tennessee and is currently a Trustee of Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Jimmy is a graduate of Union City High School, received a B.A. from Bethel College in McKenzie, a M.Div. from Memphis Theological Seminary, and holds two honorary doctorates: Doctor of Divinity from Florida Bible College, and Doctor of Laws from Crichton College. He has taught evangelism at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College and served for seven years as an adjunct faculty member of Columbia International University. He remains active in ministering in the Memphis community and in visiting the mission field, including the ministries supported by Redeemer.
